“I Forget What That Feels Like”: Why I Ride For A T1D Cure
What a world without type 1 diabetes would mean to my daughter Hannah
This October 4th will mark 14 years since my daughter Hannah was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D) at age 11. I interviewed her several weeks ago for a podcast I recently launched called “Living the Breakthrough: T1D Stories.” At the end of the episode, I asked Hannah, “What would a world without T1D mean to you?” Watch this short video clip for what she said.
Hannah is the reason why I get on my bicycle every year and cycle hundreds of miles and climb countless hills to raise money for Breakthrough T1D, the leading non-profit organization dedicated to research and advocacy for type 1 diabetes, aiming to improve the lives of those with T1D and ultimately find a cure.
This will be the 10th riding season for our Logistics Leaders for T1D Cure cycling team. Every year I raise the bar on my riding and fundraising goals. This year I will be doing three challenging rides:
